About Bikram Yoga

Here are just a few of the many benefits a regular yoga practice will provide:

  • Regulates cholesterol in the blood
  • Supplies oxygen and nutrients to the body parts that have been blocked or stagnant
  • Eliminates toxins and impurities
  • Flushes the lymphatic system
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Balances the endocrine glands
  • Improves the spine`s flexibility and health
  • Expands lung capacity and strengthens the heart
  • Lubricates the joints
  • Strengthens bones
  • Stretches and tones the muscles

As we age, our muscles tend to get stiffer, creating more pressure on the joints. By regular stretching, we prevent this gradual stiffening and joint deterioration and that is why yoga has a rejuvenating effect. Through a regular workout, we liberate a vast amount of energy, which we can use in our daily life to feel more alive and self-fulfilled. The intensity of Bikram`s style seems to make it particularly appealing to athletes and other high-activity people looking to add another component to their fitness regimen. We look, move and feel younger.

  • Classes are 90 minutes, comprised of 26 postures (done twice) and two breathing exercises.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I`d be practicing yoga, much less teaching it alongside my daughter, and owning two studios! My lack of flexibility, an abundance of extra weight and my big belly never stopped me from receiving the benefits of this yoga almost immediately.
Just two and a half months after starting my practice, I took a leave of absence from work and went to L.A. for nine weeks to become a Bikram certified instructor. One year later, I opened our first studio in downtown White Bear Lake. And now, four and a half years later we are able to offer Bikram Yoga to the East Metro with our Woodbury location.

My hope and desire is for everyone to experience the tremendous healing qualities of Bikram Yoga. Bikram says, "You`re never too late, you`re never too old, you`re never too sick, to start from scratch."

I started my journey with Bikram Yoga on New Year`s Eve of 2001. After taking my first class, I thought people were crazy to go back. Within a few days of that first class, I found myself back on my mat attempting another class. For what reason I returned, I have no idea! But I`m so glad that I gave it another shot. I soon fell in love with Bikram Yoga and even more with the results I was seeing.

Three years later I packed my bags for California and enrolled in the nine week training program. Practicing this yoga and sharing it with others has become my passion. I love watching students progress and being able to celebrate their "breakthroughs" with them. But most of all, seeing lives being changed through this yoga is an incredible thing to witness. I am so honored that I get to be a part of it!
