Where we came from....
Sal`s is made up as two existing structures...
One portion of the building can be identified as the Machine shop in the circa 1915. The machine shop was originally built in the early 1900`s by the Interstate Lumber Company
as their machine shop.
Interstate Lumber Company sold farm machinery, repair parts, nuts, bolts, etc in this building. In the 1940`s they carried the Minnesota Machinery farm equipment made at the prison. After the lumber yard burnt down, Interstate made a large addition to this building for lumber sales.
Business began to dwindle, and Interstate sold the building. John Eldridge made fiberglass toboggans here for a short time. Ed Zahler, Sr., took over ownership of the building in the early 1960`s. He ran his construction business from here for six years. The building sat idle for another three years before it was sold to the Martin Selinki`s. They remodeled it, making a home and beauty shop.
The building was bought by the next owner, Shirley Nelson, in 1977. She made it into a grocery store called The One Potata trading Post. She also sold soft serve ice cream and later added off-sale liquor. She remodeled to include on sale liquor and restaurant, calling it Keystone Lounge. (the second existing structure) Brad Smith purchased the Keystone Lounge in 2000, making it his second Woody`s Bar and Grill location.
In April 2004 Woody`s was then purchased by Jeff Fusco, renaming the restaurant
"Sal`s Angus Grill" after his father Sal...
